CHRIS MORRISSEY is an actor and filmmaker that has written, produced and directed several award-winning contemporary cult classic feature films that have screened theatrically and at various international film festivals during the past 15 years. Film titles include Superstar Female Serial Killer, Fashion Murder Groove and Trick of the Witch. Chris is a native of Los Angeles and got his start at Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine and Roger Corman's Concorde Pictures before making the leap into independent films. His new film Heavy Makeup will have a theatrical tour during 2017.

Hollywood’s RIP HORROR FILM FESTIVAL To Screen 70 Films In November - Including two films by CHRIS MORRISSEY

RIP HORROR FILM FESTIVAL 2016

The annual RIP HORROR FILM FESTIVAL celebrates its fourth successful year in Los Angeles with plans to screen up to 70 new feature films and shorts during the epic four day festival. The festival will be held at the Vintage LOS FELIZ 3 CINEMAS and run November 10^th through November 13^th, 2016. The festival will feature special Q&A panel discussions, celebrity guest appearances, filmmaker parties, and a signature red carpet award ceremony. Micro shorts will screen on two additional dates at the Echo Park Film Center on September 30^th and October 28^th.

A special Filmmaker Spotlight will showcase L.A. independent film actor / director Chris Morrissey and two of his recent films. Heavy Makeup will launch opening night of the festival with a celebrity red carpet premiere event at 8:00pm on Thursday, November 10th. Morrissey will introduce the film and participate in a Q&A with actress Share Cherrie. Heavy Makeup is a campy twisted thriller about a serial killer stalking Hollywood actresses. The film features a hot soundtrack by UK artist Joe Wheeler and stars indie scream queen Share Cherrie (Superstar Female Serial Killer, Jengo Hooper), Whitney Quinlan (Beverly Hills Ghost Club), Jessica Velle (It’s Not Me, It’s You!) and Elizabeth Young (Class of Nuke ‘Em High 3).

Morrissey’s award-winning supernatural chiller Trick of the Witch will screen on Saturday, November 12th at 10:00pm with the director and cast members attending to introduce the film. Trick of the Witch centers on a group of fashion models fighting an evil witchcraft curse while stranded at a secluded mansion during a photo shoot. The film also stars Share Cherrie, Owen Alabado (Showtime’s Shameless) Suzy Cote (TV’s CSI, The Guardian) and Rebecca Da Costa (Mine Games). Trick of the Witch previously won the Best Horror Film Award and the Audience Award at the New York International Independent Film Festival in 2010 and had a limited theatrical run at the Laemmle Theatres.

Another festival highlight is Condo Hell, the directorial debut from actress Amy Wade (Special Dead). Condo Hell is a suspenseful, action-packed thriller starring Amy Wade, Gia Franzia (Trick of the Witch) and Wayne Stemmler. Condo Hell will have a special red carpet event screening on Friday, November 11^th at 9:00pm. Wade and cast members from the film will introduce the screening.

RIP Horror Film Festival is one of the largest independent horror film festivals currently held in Los Angeles. The festival was established in 2012 and has since become recognized by the independent film industry as one of the leading horror film events on the Los Angeles festival circuit. The festival was established by local entertainment industry leaders working to represent and award legendary indie giants, the working filmmaker and future student filmmakers. Supporting, mentoring and representing the Indie community in all genres of filmography. The complete list of scheduled films in the festival will be announced after final selections in early October.

Actor Director Chris Morrissey's first feature film SUPERSTAR FEMALE SERIAL KILLER was recently featured in the book "Serial Killer Cinema" by Robert Cettl. This is a great book with a lot of detailed film coverage. Be sure to request a copy through your favorite book store or purchase one from an online store!

Serial Killer Cinema is a detailed analysis and chronological contextualization of the development of the genre and is followed by a comprehensive analytical filmography of some 500+ films from the silent era to the beginning of the C21st and the popularization of the Hannibal Lector movies.  Included in the analysis is the evolution of the genre in tandem to important developments in criminological science and forensic investigation as they centered increasingly on the role of the "profiler", a character type which distinguishes the serial killer film above other types of police procedural dramas.

"The Award Winning TRICK OF THE WITCH"....

I haven't posted on here in quite a while but I am very pleased to mention that my recently completed film "TRICK OF THE WITCH" not only was the opening night film of the New York International Independent Film Festival back in November, but since it was a sold out standing room only premiere the festival showed it on closing night as well. To our surprise, we also won two awards! Best Horror Film and The Audience Award for a Feature Film!

We are so happy and excited! Congrats to all the cast and crew that worked so hard!!

TRICK OF THE WITCH will make its theatrical debut next Friday & Saturday (March 4th & 5th) with preview Midnight shows at the Laemmle Sunset 5 Theatres in West Hollywood.

The film will expand on March 25th to the Vine Theater on Hollywood Blvd and then make its way to NY and other cities over the coming months.

Hope all of you will come and check it out... it's a campy flick and very fun to watch with a full audience!
